  | | | Smbfs 2 giga limit ? | Smbfs 2 giga limit ? 2005-03-23 - By David Balazic
Back Hi!
I am trying to copy a large file to a SMB share and I get a "File size limit exceeded" error when 2 gigabytes are reached. I have red hat linux 9 with the latest updates (kernel-2.4.20-31.9) Server is windows XP pro SP2.
I read on the net, that the smbfs module had such a limit. Is this still true ?
Here is what I do :
# mount -t smbfs -o username=me,password=secret //xp1/backup /mnt/1 # cd /mnt/1 # dd if=/dev/hda of=hda_try2.img File size limit exceeded # ls -l -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2147483647 Mar 22 13:36 hda_try2.img
Any solution ? (besides not using files larger than 2 GB )
Regards, David Balaic
