Note that gamin and gamin-devel list themselves in the rpm database as fam
and fam-devel replacements (being that they are a rewrite of fam and aim
for api compat).  So courier-imap will build against them, however I have
not had good luck getting IMAP ENHANCED IDLE to work with gamin.  Removing
the fam-devel requirement from the .spec is not enough.  If you don't care
about IMAP IDLE at all, temporarily remove gamin and gamin-devel while you
compile courier-imap.  Otherwise, do what I did for my production server
and pull down the latest fam SRPM from Fedora Core 2 (there's an updated
one).  Recompile that on RHEL4 and install it over gamin.  Note that
you'll need to tell up2date to ignore fam* package upgrades.  This has
worked well for me.
