I have been using my Redhat 9 system as a local web development server on
my home lan.
My internet connection has been through the Windows 2000 computer with ICS
enabled.

With this setup I can use browsers in the X window system, ping, and
traceroute. Everything goes through the network and to the internet via
the W2K machine.

Now, I want to try to turn off the Windows internet connection and try out
the Linux machine as the dial-up interface to the Internet.

So far I have got wvdial to connect to my ISP, but after that I don't seem
to have any more functionality.
I switch to another terminal, and I try to ping or traceroute, but neither
works.
My lan interface has a fixed IP, but my modem dial-up uses a dynamic IP.

Can someone tell me where to begin looking for what needs to be fixed, so
that I can choose to log on with the Linux machine as my connection to the
internet?

Thanks,
