Capturing VSFtp pasv_addr with dynamic ip

Capturing VSFtp pasv_addr with dynamic ip

2005-04-22       - By Mike Vanecek

 Back
Vsftp allows one to set the ip address advertised in response to a pasv
command in the situation where the server is behind a router and uses an
internal address:

pasv_address
Use this option to override the IP address that vsftpd will advertise in
response to the PASV command. Provide a numeric IP address.
Default: (none - the address is taken from the incoming connected socket)

This works fine unless the external ip address changes (as in the case of
dynamic ips). Does anyone have a method for pasv_address to get the "current"
external address of the server?

VsFtpd reports the correct external address upon connection. It just does not
remember it when the user does a passive command such as ls ...

Thanks.
