NFS tuning

NFS tuning

2005-05-05       - By IECISA.Ortega Gonzalez, Carlos

 Back
Hi!

I've got several RHEL 3 machines that share a filesystem located in a
Solaris 2.6 machine via nfs. Before installing RHEL 3, these machines had RH
7.2 installed. With the previous O.S. we had no messages regarding nfs in
the /var/log/messages file. Now, however, we get a lot of messages like
these:

kernel: nfs: server <Solaris 2.6 machine> not responding, timed out

kernel: NFS: Server wrote less than requested.

Are there any parameters that I can tune so that the nfs doesn't show these
errors? The situation is not temporary; it happens most of the time. The
network architecture hasn't changed, so I think that it may have something
to do with the new version of nfs of this O.S. For now I can't upgrade the
O.S. or nfs version of the Solaris machine. In time, it will be removed, and
the shared filesystem will be in a different Solaris machine.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Carlos Ortega Gonz?lez
