Back Greetings, list:
I am not having success with some USB devices with RHEL 3.0ES.
I have a bunch of APC UPS which have USB connectors on them. My intent is to use Network UPS Tools (nut) to monitor these UPSs via a USB hub. I have had success doing this with Fedora.
NUT wants to monitor these devices via the /dev/hiddev$X devices, however the kernel is not creating these devices when USB devices are added or removed from the system. In fact, nothing changes in /proc/bus/usb when devices are added or removed, whether or not the system is rebooted in between examinations.
I'm running update-nothing (ie, stock original RHEL 3.0ES), would I be better off with a later rev of the kernel? Or is this probably a waste of time with the 2.4 kernel family and I should investigate moving to RHEL 4?
Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks!
