You have never applied any updates via up2date? Even if it doesn't fix this specific problem, you really should do an up2date and bring yourself current. You'll get a lot of bug fixes as well as some new features.

RHEL 4 is certainly nicer for a lot of stuff but it's still fairly new. Depending on what you use the system for, RHEL 4 might not even be an option for you yet.
