  | | | iptables output? | iptables output? 2005-06-09 - By Bill Tangren
Back I have configured iptables on my server, and now now I get output going to my text windows (in the GUI, do a ctrl+alt+F1 to get to one of them). This text pops up whenever a packet of some type is intercepted. These packets also seem to be logged, as logwatch reports on them. The problem is, I can't do any work from these text windows, because the 2+line long strings overwrite what I am working on. This is very annoying.
Can anyone tell me how to redirect this output to /dev/null or someplace else?
This is a sample:
Invalid packet: IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=01:00:5e:00:00:01:08:00:4e:b0:01:e9:08:00 SRC=10.1.4.238 DST=224.0.0.1 LEN=36 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=225 ID=5592 PROTO=ICMP TYPE=9 CODE=0
(I transcribed this from the terminal window, so it may not be exact, but you should get the idea)
Any ideas?
Thanks! Bill Tangren
