As i understand the QLogic driver supports failover (is that an option with EMC ? or do people default to powerpath). I would get PowerPath to accomplish loadbalancing though.
On the HP side you have to buy Veritas Foundation Suite to accomplish load balancing as far as i understand. The driver native failover is what is suggested by HP.

The plan is to boot the systems locally and only host the DB on the SAN.
