Just to pick a nit, EMC PowerPath does support EVA storage, assuming you have
the
properly licensed version.  It also supports IBM ESS and Hitchi storage.

EMC does seem to be trying though.  They appeared to be involved in the
development of
the open-source disk-mapper multipath support, especially the dm-emc.o module
which
provides native disk mapper support for EMC arrays.  It would seem that RHEL4
U1
includes this module, as well as FC4 and SLES9 SP2 (currently in release
candidate
phase).

Working to provide an open-source solution for a product that is currently a
cash
generator would certainly seem to count as giving back to the community, even
though
it's likely that the market, and specifically competition from HP and IBM,
likely
forced their hand.

Later,
Tom
