Back How can you do a package management install (RPM) with no package manager (apart from using rpm2cpio - in which case you'd know what rpm you got it from?) Even with an SRPM you build and RPM as part of the build - and hence install it. RPM stands for RedHat Package Manager so I think you may be getting yourself tied up in knots with your question.
The alternative is to use sometthing like http://rpmfind.net/ to give you a clue.
