Back We have installed our own custom apache RPMs onto a RHEL3 server, due to the fact that Redhat doesn't provide apache-1.3 which we need for mod_perl and various modules that go with it. We've removed the RHEL apache packages.
Anyway the problem is that up2date keeps wanting to update our custom apache packages to the latest version from RHN. So an up2date -l will show this:
Invalid metapkg id emacs-nox
Fetching Obsoletes list for channel: rhel-i386-es-3...
Fetching rpm headers... ########################################
Name Version Rel -- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----- httpd 2.0.46 46.2.ent i386 httpd-devel 2.0.46 46.2.ent i386
The following Packages are obsoleted by newer packages:
Name-Version-Release obsoleted by Name-Version-Release -- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ------ apache-1.3.33-2.of httpd-2.0.46-46.2.ent apache-devel-1.3.33-2.of httpd-devel-2.0.46-46.2.ent
The relevant entries in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date are: pkgSkipList[comment]=A list of package names, optionally including wildcards, to skip pkgSkipList=kernel-modules,httpd,httpd-devel,apache,apache-devel;
removeSkipList[comment]=A list of package names, optionally including wildcards that up2date will not remove removeSkipList=kernel*,apache*;
However these make no difference - it still does it. -- Tim Edwards
