Back For what it's worth, traceroute also fails from a non-bonded virtual interface:
# ifconfig eth0:1 eth0:1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:30:48:10:yy:xx inet addr:x.y.z.48 Bcast:x.y.z.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
# traceroute -i eth0:1 nsx setsockopt: No such device unable to bind to device: eth0:1
