How check and change the status of OS and sytem cache in linux

Hello Everyone,

I'am using a system with ppc8280 processor.

We are trying send/receive message of 4kB to another system over HDLC interface
we have written a custom driver for this interface.

But we are finding some performance problem (time related).

so we are thinking the problme might b'coz cache is not enable.

So i need to know how to check the cache status in linux. and also how to
enable and disable OS and system cache in linux. Is there any command or OS
call or any file to be modified in the proc or etc. something allowing the
control of caching.

Specialy for ppc82xx family of processors b'coz there is a bit setting which
needs to be modified in one of its registers.

SOS, thank you in advance.

Regards,
Manoj
