Back I'm having trouble with a HP DL-140 G2 server with SATA disks. In both RHEL 3 and RHEL 4 the disk is found as /dev/hda and disk I/O is terrible, around 3MBytes/sec instead of the expected 50MBytes/sec.
The server is certified by Red Hat / HP but neither of theese players have been able to answer my questions regarding this, Red Hat tells me to talk to HP and HP says "ask red hat".
Have anyone installed RHEL 3 on an DL140 G2 with SATA disks and gotten it to work? With Ubuntu I get normal performance from the disks on the same server so there is no hardware failure. I'm unable to set DMA with hdparm.
Here is some info (dmesg, hdparm, hardware, bios etc). Any help is much appreciated.
