Error with sense data : sense key not ready

Greetings -

My morning logwatch email provide the present for me listed below.  I am a
novice Linux administrator for a small office, but have been following the
discussions on this list for a while and have searched google for some
assistance already.  I am hoping that someone here can educate me further
about diagnosing what is going on with my system.

-- ---- ---- ---- --- Kernel Begin -- ---- ---- ---- ------

WARNING: Kernel Errors Present
st0: Error with sense data:...: 1Time(s)

-- ---- ---- ---- ---- Kernel End -- ---- ---- ---- ---- --

Checking /var/log/messages I found this message that corresponds to the
logwatch entry.

Oct 19 13:00:24 bison kernel: st0: Error with sense data: Info fld=0xc,
Current st09:00: sense key Not Ready

Oct 19 13:00:24 bison kernel: Additional sense indicates Logical unit not
ready,initializing cmd. required

st0 is my tape drive, and the timing of this message is about the time that
I changed the backup tape in the drive.  Googling for some information on
this didn't seem to get any substantial information that appeared directly
related, or that I could understand.  Has anyone else seen this error, or
can provide me with an understanding of what it is?  I can provide any other
diagnostic information if you give me pointers on what files or logs to look
at.  I am aware that the first suggestion is going to be to get my kernel
up2date.  I have that scheduled for the near future, but still would like to
understand the cause of the error before updating.

Additional system details are :
Dell PE 2600 functioning as a Samba file server for 10 Windows clients
Current kernel is 2.4.21-4.ELsmp on an i686
Samba was updated on 10/7/05 and is running 3.0.9-1.3E.5

My complete /var/log/messages file for the previous two days is listed
below.  In perusing this in more detail there are some additional messages
relating to Samba that have me curious.  If anyone here can throw some light
on these also I would appreciate it, otherwise I will try posting them to
the Samba list.  The first is the
smbd/nttrans.c:call_nt_transact_ioctl(2276) message.  The second is the
lease broken message.  Google didn't give me a solution to these either,
other than indicating to me that the lease broken message is referencing
some interaction with Samba.   Thanks for any assistance provided.
