I have followed up with Red Hat on this issue and there is a project in
place that will make this problem go away.  You will be able to buy from
a reseller or Red Hat and not have to worry about paper activation keys
- online point&click activation, automatic proration, co-termination,
or as it was stated: "the whole enchilada".

I believe the most important point is not being able to specify when the
subscription starts but more being able to make sure all your
subscriptions co-terminate on the same date so that your renewals become
a lot easier.

I can't tell you when the new procedures will be in place (besides the
traditional "when it's ready") but it is definitely being worked on.
