iowait 2006-01-11 - By Hoover Mark A AISC CONT
Back I've got an annoying little problem that I'm trying to find the answer to.
I have something that about every 2-3 days I have something that runs I/O wait up to anywhere between 4-10%. Normally ours is 0-1%. This isn't bringing the server to its knees, but I'd really like to find out what process is doing it.
If anybody can tell me how to match a given process to the iowait, I'd really appreciate it. I've been looking at the output of iostat, vmstat, lsof, ps, and top all morning and don't feel any closer than when I started.
