Nailing Down a /dev point 2006-01-15 - By Elam Daly
Back Howdy all,
We have the USB 2.0 Iomega hard drives we use for a nightly backup scheme.
They work great except for the fact that each time you plug one of them in, the potential mount point changes. So if I plug in drive a on Monday, the dev point is /dev/sda1, or it could be /dev/sdc1 etc. It's never consistent. I've hacked a script that uses the fdisk command and greps for the appropriate drive and then mounts it, but I'd rather not do this.
Is there a way to tell ES that I want every single usb hard drive to use the same mount point, preferably /dev/sda1?
Thanks, -Elam
