Back Good day,
This morning I attempted to install RHEL 4 Update 3 on two (2) Dell 500 SC machines. Both machines are identical except for one machine has a 20 Gig disk and the 2nd machine has a 250 Gig disk. Both disks are EIDE. Both machines are Intel P-III, 1.4 GHz, with 2 Gigs of memory.
The install is freezing during the disk format. I have tried to do a manual format (my preferred way) and I have tried the automatic format. Both machines freeze at, what appears to be, the end of the disk format no matter which method I use.
The CDs I am using for the install I used to do an install on a Dell Optiplex over the weekend. The install went fine...no problems.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be happening? I'm going to try an install with an earlier version of RHEL 4 to see if this happens again. I have about 20 of the Dell 500SC in our lab and have done numerous installs of RHEL 2 .1 and 3 without any issues. This one has me stumped.
Thanks,
Pat
