I presume you've read the tech sheet posted on support.dell.com.  I'll
also refer you to the http://linux.dell.com web site and

Hard to know without knowing what you're looking at, but you can get
true hardware RAID cards in these boxes, as well as using Linux
md-based software RAID.  The software/hardware combinations should be
avoided.
