It's a character set thing. Try doing this:
LANG="en_US.UTF-8 (See http://UTF-8.ora-code.com)";export LANG
Then try your man command again. If it looks correct, edit your /etc/sysconfig/i18n file and make sure it contains this data:
LANG="en_US.UTF-8 (See http://UTF-8.ora-code.com)" SUPPORTED="en_US.UTF-8 (See http://UTF-8.ora-code.com):en_US:en" SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"
Then reboot.
